Full Profile - Dr David Rey
BSc, MSc EE & IT University of Montpellier, France
MSc Maths PUC-Rio, Brazil
PhD IFSTTAR Lyon – University of Grenoble, France
Area of interest: transportation networks, combinatorial algorithms, mathematical programming and operations research.
Dr David Rey is a researcher at the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) at UNSW Australia.
At rCITI, Dr Rey is involved in applied transportation projects. Currently he is working to develop a travel time prediction model with the Traffic Management Centre at Transport for New South Wales. The long-term scope of this project is to implement in real-time a travel time prediction model in the city of Sydney so that accurate and reliable traffic information can be provided for travellers.
He is also working on designing and evaluating incentive-based mechanisms to promote sustainable travel behaviour in urban networks. This project is in line with the smart-city concept and involves several stakeholders in the transportation arena. He aims to use market theory as well as game concepts to entice network travelers to adjust their travel pattern to improve system-wide performance.
Dr Rey has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Université Montpellier 2 in France and an MSc in Mathematics from PUC-Rio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received a PhD fellowship from the French Institute for Science and Technology for Transport, Development and Networks (IFSTTAR), and started a joint PhD at the Laboratoire Ingénierie Circulation Transports (LICIT, Lyon, France) and at the G-SCOP laboratory (Grenoble, France) to study conflict detection and resolution strategies in air traffic management.
