Winner of the Institute of Transportation Engineers Australia and New Zealand (ITEANZ) Undergraduate Award 2021

UNSW Civil and Environmental Engineering student Zhaohan Wang won the Institute of Transportation Engineers Australia and New Zealand (ITEANZ) Undergraduate Award for 2021 in the UNSW round and then at the overall Australian & New Zealand round.

The prestigious award includes a cash prize and the chance to attend the ITEANZ awards ceremony during their annual breakfast. It follows his participation in the undergraduate thesis at UNSW, which was related to the traffic states measurement using autonomous vehicle data.

Zhaohan, is currently collaborating with Dr Meead Saberi on transportation research projects, which has further strengthen his research integrity. This has allowed him to appreciate how creative ideas can bring about transformative solutions. 

Zhaohan graduated from UNSW in late-2021 with a combined degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture, said he was excited and proud to be recognised by such a respected organisation such as the ITEANZ. He also shared that this opportunity has given him the confidence and determination to pursue further research studies in the area of transportation.

“It is a huge honour for me to receive this award, and I look forward to this wonderful opportunity to share with the industry what I learned while developing my research thesis,” he said.
